Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on Thursday 09 June 2005

2.   Minutes of the last meeting on May  12^th, 2005. These were accepted as a correct record and were signed.

No major movements in the Trust finances. 

6.  Reports from Sub-committees

6.1Youth initiatives

• Skateboard park: this was now completed and positive responses have been received from the young people  using it. Photographs taken by the Ilkley Gazette had not yet appeared in the paper. Bob Jones will approve the final version of a press release prepared by BMDC.
• Youth Forum. The final AGM is to take place in the following week. As noone has yet come forward to  continue the Forum it will be formally disbanded at the AGM. The Forum had completed an ambitious  set of projects and it  was hoped that a  new group would eventually emerge to link with the Recreation Ground changing rooms project and proposed new initiatives

6.2 Scalebor sports facilities

MW reported that the painting inside is in progress. Regular sweeping and tidying has been undertaken. MH reported that the refuse bin is now being emptied.

6.3 Pond at Cornmill Lane. BS reported that the owners of the land adjoining the hard standing area at the pond feel that they should have been consulted about the arrangements and the signs. They have had several instances of members of the public going into their private garden believing it to be part of the BWCT owned area, a situation that has only arisen since the signs were erected. They are also concerned about the open event on the Duck Race day.  This matter was discussed fully. Although it had been made clear in the Burley Bulletin and in the BWCT Minutes  that the pond was not open access  this has clearly not yet been fully understood in the village. The following actions will be taken:

• Suggestion to  our tenants that the door to the pond area be locked  and BWCT will also offer to provide a touch button lock;
• Copies of the BWCT and BCC documents  explaining  the ownership and the tenancy of the Cornmill Pond to  Mr and Mrs Carruthers and to the owner of the garden area. BS will meet them before June 19^th.
• Those on duty on the Open Day will emphasise  to all visitors  that this is a one-off occasion in the year and  access is not possible at other times. BS will also explain the ownership and tenancy arrangement at the  Forum
• Amendment and replacement of the BWCT sign at the pond.
