There are many effective voluntary organisations whose work and involvement in village life adds to the community spirit and the congenial atmosphere that attracts people to move to Burley.
The Community Council's record of supporting voluntary groups and of working closely with elected representatives and officers on behalf of the community provides a strong foundation for a new parish council.
The Village Design Statement and the Conservation Area, both with recognised status, provide some statutory control over the development of the village. The updated Conservation Area was approved in 2003 following a review.
