Burley-in-Wharfedale and Burley Woodhead

Burley Parish Council

An elected local government body of nine Councillors representing the whole community. Responsible for all the statutory powers and duties of a Parish Council including planning matters, the relationship with other tiers of government and representing the interests of residents as a whole.

Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust

Registered Charity number 1098871

Provides facilities and services to benefit all residents of the community e.g. owns the Scalebor Sports Pavilion area and the Mill Pond area, provides the village Christmas Lights and Trees, leases and maintains The Round House and Pudding Tree Garden.

Works in co-operation with the Parish Council for the benefit of the community.

All residents are invited to become members of the Trust. There is a small annual fee. The Trust is managed by Trustees elected at the AGM.

Burley Community Council

The predecessor of Burley Parish Council in terms of the representation of the interests of residents as a whole. Now remains in existence only to complete tasks started where continuity of identity is essential. Most activities have transferred to the Parish Council or to the Trust.

The Trustees of the Trust are elected to act also as the committee of the Community Council.
