Present:

In the chair:

Bruce Speed (BS)

1. Apologies for absence:

Sylvia Tilford

2. Approval of Minutes of 4th October Meeting

The Minutes were signed as a correct record.

3. Matters arising

· There has been no correspondence about the telecom mast, so the proposal has probably been shelved.

· The general feeling that a website report should become an agenda item in future. MH to request the Chairperson of the Web Committee to issue a report status on the Burley in Wharfedale Web Site prior to the Trust meetings.

4. Correspondence

· Letter was received from Caroline Jones resigning her position as a Trustee. BS wrote to thank her for her contribution to BWCT since its formation.

· Copy of November issue of Briefing Bradford.

· Notification of contact addresses for Wharfedale Ward Councilors.

· Information about funds and resources available through Shipley Area Committee. Grants applications to be in by 30th January, along with applications for Community Clean-ups (15th January), Community Chest (20th February) and Local Heroes. BWCT has already nominated Judith Hird for the local heroes' scheme, and the community clean-up will probably involve a joint effort with the Parish Council and the Chamber of Trade.

· Copy of Chamber of Trade December Newsletter.

· Questionnaire re. Providing Key Services in Rural West Yorkshire. Response by 19th January requested, but difficult for BWCT to respond. This issue to be passed to the Parish Council.

5. Treasurer's report

MH circulated the Accounts Summary for period up to January 2007. The following was explained at the meeting:

Income - BPC Xmas lights capital expenditure grant of £2,000.00 was received from the Parish Council, with thanks. Donations to date for the Xmas lights was £431.75, again thanks for those who donated.

Expenditure - The £1,763.19 for the Insurance BWCT 12 months from January is a combined fee for the BCC and BWCT. The £162.74 for the Pavilion was for the final weather proof coating and anti slip mats fixed to the access slope. The conversion of the old toilets into a store for the Xmas lights came to £1,130.09. The purchase of a Scaffolding tower at £949.00, was required to enable the safe installation and removal of Xmas lights each year following a risk assessment that was carried out. It is expected that this tower will last many years. A further £704.95 was spent on the Xmas lights switch including the proviision of First Aid cover by St John Ambulance (a requirement of BCT insurance coverage as over 500 persons attend the lights switch on). A Second donation of £500.00 was made to the Tereli fund.

CM stated, to date, that we have 224 paid up members of the trust, of which there are 7 Life Members. The period reporting on is from 1st June 2006 to 10th January 2007. Last Trust year (June 05 to May 06) the Trust had only had 185 paid up members, the reason for the increase this year was the introduction of reminder cards being sent out to previous members. Sending out the reminder cards has helped, but we require others trustees to think up new ideas of what the Trust can do in generating further income for the Trust.

6. January Neighbourhood Forum

At this time, the committee had no input for the up coming Neighborhood Forum on the 18th January.

7. Christmas Lights and Street Market

The BWCT would like to say thank you to all who supported in helping out in the erection and removal of the Xmas lighting, the switching on of the lights and providing refreshments, especially Dorothy Kirkbright.

8. Scalebor Sports facility

All external painting has been completed and gutters cleared before Christmas. BS and MH installed non-slip rubber matting on the exposed sloped access to the verandah to avoid a slipping risk when the decking is wet. Users are very pleased with the result. MH was thanked for a substantial contribution to the cost.

9. Pond in Cornmill Lane

TS has been given plans and asked to liaise with Steve Carruthers regarding the demarcation line.

10. The Round House

· Bradford has been informed, via James Bloomer, that we cannot accept a lease at more than the current rate of £50. A reply is awaited.

· A possible replacement to operate the coffee rota has come forward and arrangements are being discussed with Judith Hird to ensure a satisfactory handover.

· The partial collapse of one pillar may have been cause by recent high winds. TS has been asked to obtain a quotation for repair.

11. Pudding Tree Garden

No further news on transfer of the lease.

12. Any other business

· Website Committee Report. The next meeting is on 24th January.

13. Date of the next meeting

April 18th at 19:30

The Meeting closed at 20:35 hrs
