Achievements & Future Plans

A list of the more recent achievements of Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust and its plans for the future are listed below.
The Trust, a registered charity, is run entirely by volunteer trustees with minimal professional assistance with funding mainly from annual subscriptions, legacies, grants and fund raising events.
The achievements and future plans are made entirely within these constraints:

  • Improvements to Pudding Tree Garden and surroundings including better disabled access
  • Repainting and continued refurbishment of Scalebor Park pavilion
  • Improving drainage and annual maintenance of Scalebor Park field with help from Burley Juniors Junior Football Club
  • Organizing the Annual Duck Race and Teas in the Park
  • Extending and improving the village Christmas lights (with help from the Parish Council)
  • Providing the hanging baskets and new tubs in the summer months (with help from the Parish Council)
  • Continued maintenance of The Roundhouse (a village landmark)
  • Provision, maintenance and monitoring of the village web site
Corn Mill Pond Jubilee Garden

  • Extensive refurbishment of the fountain area at the bottom of Station Road to provide better village facilities (including seating and bike rack)
  • Improvements to the surrounds of Corn Mill Pond and improved access for the village
  • Improving communication to the village about the work of the Trust and extending the scope of our Membership
  • Provide support to other village organizations when required
  • To refurbish the cobbled area in front of the War Memorial
  • To tidy and improve the Roundhouse Gardens
